Lacks nothing in scope.

Lacks commercialness, but that matters little.

Its good, an epic piece, i'd say this is more techno than dnb, its lacking the rumble that i look for in good dnb, but regardless its a great piece of music

Its good to see someone who can think in original time signatures too.

I think this piece would stand out best if made on a 4/5.1 sound system, but i havent got one of those :S It sounds a bit, unclear in places.

You must be an aphex fan, surely.

WinTang responds:

Thanks for the review :)
Mmm, I see the Aphex Twin reference, I never listen to it though - hope it doesn't sound like a rip-off...
And yeah, commercialness is not often first in my priority list. This is my most downloaded song, so that may be saying something. Or not.
Anyway, thanks for giving me my first 7th review. I'm off to see what you made!

haha woah, shit me man

Strength to strength regarding the drums dude, i'm jealous of those drums, i cant make drums that resonant for some reason :S

I'm with padman on the cheesy synth, the difference is too much to take n made my ears pop.

I can see your ambition but it doesnt come out well in this case, the cheese is both too high n too low at the same time, possibly double synth, have one go an octave or two up on one oscillator, perhaps another synth done with saw waves an octave or two down to mix with the bass n provide the right modulation?

If you're using acid pro i appreciate its a cock of a programme, specially how if you want to use same in synth in different ways you gotta stop n export it before changing any settings, but sometimes shit like this has to be done.

Now i listen to it again i'd say yeah, drop the lead a couple octaves , make it in tune with the bass, then add another lead thats more piercing over the top of that. Ps basslines that are taken stupidly high can really assist high notes with piercing through cleanly. But then i'm not expert, i know less than many :S

Bass sound is good, but you NEVER want clipping, means you're gettin the track distorted in crazy ways. I used to do it myself dude, til someone pointed out to me that the master levels not meant to go into the red.

Sorry if i appear patronising, i just feel like you could've done this track better, but i know dnb isnt your usual style of writing, at least for NG anyway.

Triskele responds:

Thanks man. I still like the synth and bass, I guess its just a matter of taste. Keep in touch!

haha woah,

Not at all what i expected mate, i expected it to be a celtic heavy track with some scritchy scratchy drums, this is cool man. Possibly too much bass in places, tho it could just be my headphones. I think the kick needs some limiting and or compression on it, tho i'll have to play this through my speakers again later to be sure (its 6 am and my parents are asleep in the next room)

I see what that guy means about the drums goin out, if intended its interesting, tho not pleasant, is that some vocoding/synthesised sounding speech i hear in there too? That sounds cool whatever it is, its very chirpy yet also atmospheric and kinda sinister, exciting sounding. Cool stuff man, i think the track could've been longer, n maybe fitted in one more style of writing or two in the track.

Triskele responds:

Thanks. This one does desperately need a remaster. It turns out the bass on my speakers has been way down for some time, so they may be far too loud. Still, this remains probably my favorite techno piece I've done so far.

Cheers.

Not bad

Not actually bad, tho i swear i've heard that exact guitar riff before in someone elses song...

Could do with extendin really, the piano feels like its going somewhere. What do you use to make your tracks.

Budgieboy responds:

holy crap, some body actully got of there ass and reviewed this

I use a program called Garage band

ACE

make a cd. NOW. bitch

A work of beauty, with some lovely glitch.

Tasty work, originality is 9 cos i can manage to fit it into a genre - trancestep, but with some more creative sounds.

Diversity is not ten because theres no completely weird sounds in there, a la aphex.

Clarity is only 9 cos bits of it sound a bit "muddy" on my system, tho its a new system, n i'm not certain if its the system, my ears or the track :S

Can clearly hear the effort, and it is a brilliant track, do you take your tracks to other types of sound systems to get the broadest mastering, or do you just master it to your system? Nice metal style kick n snare breaks btw.

PERVOK responds:

i actualy only mastered it on my good speakers, so the qulaity actually is very...
high end.
very bad, since i ehard it on my laptops shit speakers, its really, REALLY tinny.

yeah...thanks for the review!

sweet, i'm sure i reviewed this some other time.

Congrats on gold sir, tis a deserving track just on the creativity, and it is what it says on the tin too :) All machines and clicks made into music, gotta love it :)

Rucklo responds:

Ohoy! Man, i was pretty surprised to see this track on the frontpage I´m telling ya, and the second day audio submissions are featured too! That´s a big WOW for me, I´m telling ya! The song was going gold, but with the "normal" attention it would take a few more days/week. Now it happened in a few hours. Yay, my first gold :D

If ya reviewd this song before, u must have done it under another account? :S

Oh well, thanx alot for the review mate!! C ya on the msn!

/Rucklo

how the fuck

did you a) get guitar samples that good b) chop them up that well and then c) master the dynamics of the track so well. Meh. I'm jealous :)

LJCoffee responds:

Thanks - I'll take that as a compliment - but just one thing - when you say jealous do you mean like Glenn Close jealous? - should I worry that I might wake up to find my Edirol in a pot of boiling water ?!?

:)

Thanks!

Its nice but i'm baffled

I like a puzzle, but if i'm supposed to be finding some kind of message in it i'm lost. I've found that if i play with it in acid i can find a sound that sounds like you reversed samples into a track then reversed the track, or something. Meh.

LJCoffee responds:

If you have Acid Pro 5, I could always email an .acd file - looking at it instead of listening to it might make it more apparent. The first time around on this I actually did almost that exact thing (reversed track and samples) but that would have been way too obvious and probably pretty easy so I changed things up a little and used different methods. Thanks for the review!

Good

Its good, but its a bit cheery for something thats labelled industrial. Need some nasty sounds to make it more industrial, cos its just too nice. I'd recommend some metal guitar style riffing in the middle ground, but towards the back.

some day i'll find that leprachaun, and the fucker's gold WILL be mine.
